A few weeks ago I started my morning by listening to stories of bribery, scams, and of course, love. Nope, I didn’t decide to wake up extra early to watch a movie, but I had the pleasure of speaking withAmelia Kallman and Norman Gosney via Skype. I’ve been eagerly anticipating the performance of a Diary of a Shanghai Showgirl at Jammin’ Java ever since. I cannot wait to meet these two in person next Saturday, July 18th. They were so animated in their Skype conversation, and if they can keep me entertained for 50 minutes on Skype, I know I’m guaranteed to love the show. It was very hard for me to edit down this interview, as all I really wanted to do was post the 50 minute video of our conversation, but for more behind the scenes stories from Amelia and Norman journey’s to open China’s first burlesque nightclub, you can check out Amelia’s book, also titled Diary of a Shanghai Showgirl, or of course, you can join me at Jammin’ Java next Saturday.

For me, coming back now with the book being out, and the shows, and being able to do a show in my hometown, a show in New York, and then the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, it just feels like a triumph. Like the comeback story, and I’m really proud of us for doing it.
